Casey didn't look up when Ben entered the office. It was about half an hour later. Zeke had gone upstairs because he needed some rest.

"Sounds like a good idea," Casey had said.
"I'm gonna put some things away. Later I can make you a chicken soup!"

Zeke had looked at him irritated and he knew why. Of course, he would have loved to follow him. He wanted to be alone with him, even if this meant that Zeke would have some rest, while he would just sit beside his bed and read a book.

But there was Ben. Ben who still didn't know how much Casey's friendship to Zeke had changed. Casey knew, he should have told him about it from the very beginning. But there had never been the right time for it. The only thing what counted had been Zeke's garage and they both had known that it was necessary to work together. They had almost become friends. But if Ben still had a problem with it that Casey was gay - and now even together with Zeke ...

Casey felt nervous when he thought about it. Zeke was so open when it came to their relationship. He didn't try to hide his feelings, not even with other people around. Something Casey had never expected and secretly enjoyed. Unless it came to Ben. If Ben was not ready to accept it ... everything could go to hell in a hand-basket.

Casey felt Ben's eyes resting on him, while he put the mugs back onto the shelf and kept the cookies in a jar.
"Ready," he asked without looking up.

"Mhm," Ben hummed.
"That was it for today. So, why don't you go upstairs to look after Zeke? I'm gonna go home."

Casey hesitated. He knew that Ben hated it to go home and usually he tried to stay away as long as possible.
"You don't need to. All Zeke needs for the moment is to get some rest. I guess our surprises might have been a bit too much."

Ben smirked.
"But I feel like the fifth wheel. I'm sure, he has no problem with you staying with him."

Casey blinked.
"How can you say that? It means a lot to him that you are back again!"

"Oh please, don't act the fool. You know what I mean. You and Zeke ... Zeke wants more than just to be your friend."

Casey sucked in his lower lip. There was not much what he could say against it. Ben was much too smart to not see through it..
"But this has nothing to do with you," he murmured.
"Zeke is still the same. He is your friend!"

Ben nodded slowly.
"I know. But ... it's still strange ... to think that Zeke is ... gay ..."

"Better call it bi. He also likes girls."

"But they didn't mean a lot for him," Ben said.
"He never fell for a girl like he does for you."

"And this is still a problem for you?"

Ben made a grimace and kept quiet for a while.
"I don't know," he finally admitted.
"I guess it shouldn't ... but ... after all what is happened ... I don't know what to think.

When I was still hanging around with J.B. ... there was this gay couple. It was ... it was so disgusting to see them kissing. We started to fuck around with them. Finally J.B. ... it got out of control. And I did nothing to stop him. I thought it was funny."

Casey swallowed. He was not sure if he wanted to hear more.
"Would you do it again," he asked.
"Would you fuck around with Zeke?"

Ben looked almost shocked.
"With Zeke? No, of course not!"

"What's with me?"

Ben hesitated for a second before he shook his head.
"No! You're all right, really. I guess I've said a lot of bullshit to you."

"Yes, you did."
Casey sighed slightly.
"But at least there was a reason for it. You was angry. You was afraid to lose everything what meant something to you. Others act like this without any reason. They hate us ... because they can't understand. They are even afraid of us. As if it is infectious to be gay."

"Doesn't it make you furious?"

Casey shrugged.
"Sometimes. But you learn that it's easier to keep out of their way. You can't change it anyway! Most of them are ignorant dumbheads."

Ben's eyes darkened.
"Like me!"

Casey watched him thoughtfully.
"That's your decision, Ben. Look, I'm gay. And Zeke ... he is your friend. But he wants to be together with a guy, with me. It's up to you if you can accept this or not.

I wish you can, Ben, really. Without you Zeke would not have his garage any longer."

Ben shrugged.
"Without you I would never have dared to do what I did! Probably I would have given up!"

Casey chuckled slightly.
"See! The two of us, we were a great team. Now that Zeke is back, things will get even better. But we need you, Ben. Without you it wouldn't be the same."

Oh, I loved this chapter. It's so good to see Ben begin to change his thinking and trying to accept the relationship between Casey and Zeke. He's come a long way.

I hope you've been feeling well lately. I've been thinking about you.

I'm glad they've reached this stage of honest because the actions they take now will be real and based on real feelings. Will Ben respect Zeke as much, knowing he is actually together with Casey? Is there jealousy in 'losing' his friend to this interloper Casey? I hope that the team is going to be together because they all need and benefit from each other. I think it would be nice if Ben also had a partner, but maybe he still needs time to sort out what it means to be Ben.

About time they discussed the white elephant in the room. Now they can move on to other and more important things. Maybe if Ben is less angry he'll be able to form a relationship with someone.

Whew! I'm glad Casey and Ben had a frank talk and are starting to understand each other. Ben's very strong, to try to change his attitude. Many people can't, Casey's right about that. It's nice to see things starting to come together for them all.

I'm glad Ben saw through them, even before Casey had a chance to mention it. He might not understand or even like it, but he's handling it maturely and that says a lot for Ben's progression.
